Every year, the United Kingdom provides official development assistance (ODA), otherwise known as foreign aid, to a number of bilateral and multilateral recipients.

Regionally, in 2015, Africa received the largest amount of bilateral support, at 2.54 billion pounds. On a country basis, Pakistan received the most ODA – 351 million pounds in total.
Since 2011, UK net ODA has risen from 8.63 billion pounds to 12.24 billion. This development assistance is intended to promote the economic development and welfare of developing countries.
