Econintersect: Econintersect announces today the inauguration of a premium service, code named Behind the Wall. The content is this service is intended to be a cut above what is commonly supplied in information and news summation and aggregation.
Publisher Steven Hansen stated:
Some of our content requires significant effort – and our advertising based income model has not been able to compensate for this effort. We are committed to the advertising model, and the new service generally will provide additional content beyond the free-for-view content you have been seeing. We intend to use the revenue from the premium service to increase staff to take the administrative load off of Econintersect’s Managing Editor John Lounsbury so that he is able to do much more investigative reporting and analysis.
Econintersect has been a labor of love for John and me. We believed most of the economic and analysis in the mass media has been one dimensional – and biased towards the editorial beliefs of the website ownership. Neither John or I believe Economics has advanced far enough for anyone to believe what they understand is true – and we have endeavored to provide multiple views and factual analysis of data so that readers can develop their own opinions, and understand why others have different beliefs.
We hope that most of our readers will see the benefit of subscribing to our premium service which will provide additional resources to help our content advance to the next level.
The premium content will be ramped up slowly – beginning with part of the daily What We Read Today post. We will expand the commenatry and discussion associated with articles on the list each day and will target a “lucky” 13 in each daily post (increased from the original ten a day).
Our objective will be to provide a unique combination of information for a few pennies a day
For the first week this premium service will be free.
