Econintersect: Ellen Brown (pictured), Chair and President of the Public Banking Instituteand a Global Economic Intersection contributor, recently gave an featured guest presentation to the Royal Society for the encouragement of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce (RSA) in Edinburgh, Scotland. Fellow of the RSA, Ralph Leishman, also discussed specifics about how a public bank might develop and work with government in Sccotland. Ms. Brown presented the history of public banking in the U.S. and, in particular discussed the State Bank of North Dakota, now 93 years old.

A third slide shows the course of Canadian National debt following the change from a public national bank (Bank of Canada) to government funding by private banks which occurred in 1974.
