Dead-end projects and dying industries are sucking up an ever-larger portion of new credit, while more productive borrowers are starved for funds.”

- Why French Kids Don’t Have ADHD (Marilyn Wedge, Psychology Today) Hat tip to Roger Erickson. The author addresses only the field of psychology, but the differences between France and the U.S. extend to all nearly all fields of medicine – in the U.S., treat the symptoms; and in France, treat the causes. Part of the problem is the idea pills can fix everything approach produced by strong drug marketing and the rest by doctors maximizing income. One can probably treat 5-10 symptoms while doing the work necessary to determine and treat one cause.
