With the release of overall business sales data for December 2011 – manufacturing + wholesale + retail, it is concluded that December was a pretty good month.
Unadjusted sales growth of wholesale trade sector of the economy has been up-trending steadily for the last four months. This was the best December sales ever.
It is no surprise that the purchasing managers believe the service segment of the economy is expanding in January after the strong ADP data earlier this week.
Seasonal adjustment methodology of the US Census is suspect in their analysis that wholesale trade gained 2.2% in October. Econintersect believes it was flat.
