Biden-Putin Summit: What to Expect?

The highly-anticipated Biden-Putin summit is finally underway today. Here is why you should expect nothing: President Biden’s foreign policy is totally misguided (A Deadly Contradiction: the Chinese Dreamers vs. the U.S. Hegemon), while President Putin knows exactly what he is doing, in order to “Make Russia Great Again” (America: What is Russia, Anyway?)!

1. What was the real purpose of the summit?

President Biden asked for it, with one main purpose: trying to pivot Russia away from China.

2. Will President Biden be successful?

No!

Two main reasons:

1. Russia and China have been strategically aligned for quite a few years, reaching a new historic high (2021: Vladimir Putin says Russia-China tie at ‘highest level in history’ during launch of nuclear projects).

3. What’s wrong with the lead-up?

Below are four sequential talks in public:

1. 5/30: Biden promises to press Putin on human rights at Geneva summit.
2. 5/31: Russia tells U.S. to expect ‘uncomfortable’ signals ahead of Putin-Biden summit.
3. 6/13: Biden to use summit to talk directly, clearly with Putin about differences: Blinken.
4. 6/14: American unilateralism & intervention is driving global instability, not Russian actions, Putin says ahead of summit with Biden.

Obviously, the two sides are just too far apart.

4. What should President Biden expect?

Humiliation, if he insists on his published plan by insulting President Putin and Russia first (Biden warns he’ll tell Putin ‘what I want him to know’ as he defines goals of foreign tour), just like Secretary of State Tony Blinken was at his meeting with the Chinese (Video of China’s Put Down of U.S. During Tense Meeting Goes Viral)!

For President Putin, America committed two unforgiveable “crimes” against Russia:

1. 2005: Putin: Soviet collapse a ‘genuine tragedy’.
2. 2014: Ukraine, Russia, and the U.S., which ultimately resulted in Russia’s taking back of Crimea by force (Crimea, Ukraine, Russia, and the U.S.).

What was the biggest strategic move Putin made after taking back Crimea in 2014?

A full Russia-China alliance will soon, if not already, be more powerful than any American alliance (e.g., NATO), not only economically (China set to surpass U.S. as world’s biggest economy by 2028), but also militarily (Which country Has The Most Nuclear Weapons?).

What should America do?

Change by, first of all, truly understanding both itself and China, the big elephant in the Biden-Putin summit room!
