An ABC/Washington Post poll has found that both former FBI Director James Comey and President Trump have serious credibility issues with the American public. The poll was taken prior tof Comey’s testimony last week before the Senate Intelligence Committee.

When asked how much they trust both men on their views of Russian interference in the presidential election, 36 percent of respondents said they trust Comey “a great deal” or “good amount” compared to 21 percent for Trump.
55 percent of the public reported they trust the former FBI director “just some” or “not at all” on Russia. When asked about Trump, only 72 percent of people indicated they have some trust in him or none at all on the matter of election interference. The poll also found that 56 percent of the public think Trump is trying to interfere with the investigation into Russian influence on the election while 61 percent think the president fired Comey to protect himself rather than for the good of the country.
