When Theresa May called a special snap election for June 8 on April 18, conventional wisdom and pollsters indicated the result would likely be a landslide and the Prime Minister’s hand would be greatly strengthened for upcoming Brexit negotiations. The results are in and not only did May’s Conservative Party not extend their majority – they lost it by as few as 6 seats or as many as 10 seats (4 seats still undecided). The result is euphimistically referred to as a “hung parliament“.

Below are the latest results at this hour. If the Tories (nickname for the Conservatives) win one more seat they are likely to form a coalition governnment with Northern Ireland’s Democratic Union Party (DUP), which won 10 seats, to get the required 326 votes.
