A report released by UNICEF has shed more light on the the plight of Syria’s remaining children, revealing that 2016 was the worst year since the beginning of the conflict.

At least 851 children were recruited into fighting – a 157 percent increase above 2015 – and at least 652 were killed. The death figure only includes those formally verified though, meaning the real number is likely to be a lot higher. As UNICEF writes, no child is spared the horror of the war in Syria.
