Like it or not, Donald Trump is our next President. Let’s wish him well and help him succeed.
In this article, I will speculate on a great Trump Presidency (i.e. Trump 2.0), in light of the famous Presidential quote: “Now, Make Me Do It“.
First off, what is Trump 1.0?
1. Trump 1.0
Trump 1.0 refers to the Trump candidacy from June 16, 2015 to November 8, 2016. It was full of controversy but concluded remarkably well for Trump. Two points:
- Trump ran such a ridiculously unorthodox campaign that it was only possible for a rare genius like Donald Trump.
- Trump hi-jacked the GOP and saved it from permanent irrelevance (thanks to the total devastation caused by George W. Bush), with a tremendous amount of capital accumulated in the GOP bank for later use.
Bottom line: Trump won the election, and the rest is history!
2. Trump 2.0
Trump 2.0 refers to the entire Trump Presidency forthcoming.
Trump 2.0 will certainly be as controversial as Trump 1.0, thanks to “Trump is Trump”. The most important question is whether Trump 2.0 will be good for America.
Trump has a unique opportunity to be great not only to make American history, but also to make human history!
Specifically, here is what President Trump should strive for:
- Match President Lincoln by confronting the biggest problem facing our nation! For Lincoln, it was union disintegration because of slavery. For Trump, it is to fundamentally reform our failed political system (e.g. draining the swamp)! More on this later in Section 6.
- Out-Lincoln Lincoln by doing it peacefully, like China’s Deng Xiaoping, who has proven to be the greatest peaceful transformational leader in human history! For more, read: Donald Trump vs. Deng Xiaoping.
Here are four key reasons why President Trump can do it:
- Trump is Trump! Unlike his [recent] predecessors, Trump seems to be old and wise enough to know what’s really great and strive for it, which means, among other things, avoiding the trap of “getting re-elected ad nauseam!” For more, read: American Presidency: Why is One-Term a Must (Version 3)?
- Trump 2.0 is free from Trump 1.0, thanks to “Trump is Trump”. For example, even during the campaign, he changed his position on such a big issue as the Muslim ban from a policy to a proposal, without repercussions whatsoever!
- Trump is barely Republican! This allows him to remain center-right, addressing big issues on both extremes. More on this later in Section 6.
- The GOP has the majority in both Chambers of Congress, thanks largely to Trump.
But will he do it? I certainly hope so, but it’s hard, given our political system (i.e. democracy) and history.
3. Is democracy doomed?
Yes, most likely! Read this classic piece: The Truth about Tytler. Below is an excerpt.
4. Is America exceptional?
No, not at all, so far! For more, read: Oliver Stone: Untold History of the United States.
History is made by heroes, not by the people (aka “the indistinguishable”). Unfortunately, there is no hero in America anymore, because everybody (e.g. a solider, teacher, policeman, or firefighter) is!
An American President can be a real hero!
Unfortunately, an American President is not a king or dictator (e.g. China’s Mao Zedong), and is thus limited in greatness (e.g. China’s Deng Xiaoping) or destructiveness (e.g. Adolf Hitler). For example, there has never been an American President comparable in achievements with great historical figures like Alexander the Great, China’s First Emperor, and China’s Deng! Why not? It is simply not what the American Presidency was designed to be. More pointedly, the U.S. Constitution was specifically written to limit the powers of the American President to prevent the tyranny of a king.
Worse yet, many American Presidents, in recent history at least, have done more damage to America than all of the terrorists have done, combined! For more, read: Three Worst American Terrorists: JFK, GWB, and BHO!
However, Trump 2.0 may be exceptional …
5. Can Trump 2.0 be exceptional?
Yes! Two main reasons:
- We are long overdue for a “strong” President to turn things around. The country is ready for it, as evidenced by this election: the people simply gambled on Trump!
- The way Trump won the election: he just out-smarted all his opponents, with exceptional brilliance and exceptional leadership!
6. Will Trump 2.0 be exceptional?
Hopefully yes! Time will tell, soon …
Specifically, here is what President Trump must do to reform our failed political system:
- Re-define the American Presidency. For more, read: Let’s Redefine the American Presidency, Now (Version 3)!
- Serve only one term to set a good example, just like President Washington did with two terms. For more, read: American Presidency: Why is One-Term a Must (Version 3)?
- Set term limits for Congress. For more, read: Solution for America (Version 3).
Additionally, President Trump must address two extreme problems as follows:
- Democratic Socialism, with the worst example being the public-sector unions. For example, on his first day in office, he should issue an executive order to undo JFK’s Executive Order 10988, thus immediately stopping America’s continuous bleeding!
- Democratic Imperialism, with the worst example being the MIC (Military-Industrial Complex). He must resist the MIC like JFK did (Correctly Assessing President John F. Kennedy), and attack it to out-Reagan Reagan (Correctly Assessing President Ronald Reagan)!
7. Closing
Together, let’s hope for a great Trump 2.0!
President Trump, America needs you to be great, truly great! The path to greatness has already been shown to you (Donald Trump vs. Deng Xiaoping). For all our sakes, please listen and just do it!
