Economists say that full employment effectively exists when there is 5% unemployment or less. The exact number may be debatable but it is not debatable that stress becomes evident (many unfilled job openings, more rapidly rising wages, etc.) when unemployment becomnes very low. While there are an increasing number of job openings for highly skilled workers it has not yet been considered very stressful and wages have been lagging with limited gains – and the unemployment rate is less than 5%. How can this be happening?
