Although it’s still about one year away from the Republican Convention in 2016, I have narrowed down my vote to two individuals: Governor Scott Walker and Senator Rand Paul. Not only are they the best GOP candidates, they offer the GOP the best chance to win the American Presidency in 2016!
1. American Voters’ Ideology Spectrum
The image below shows my qualitative view of American voters’ ideology spectrum, which can be highlighted in two points as follows:
- America, generally speaking, has been moving left, with more and more Democrats than Republicans over time! We have lived through the transition from a center-right country to a decidedly left one, exactly as Karl Marx predicted more than 150 years ago: “Democracy is the road to socialism … Socialism leads to communism.”
- There are simply not enough Republicans in America anymore! Too many Americans are dependent on the government (e.g. for jobs or handouts), and they keep wanting more by voting for Democrats, who keep promising and handing out more (e.g. food stamps). However, Republicans can still win the American Presidency in 2016. How? By having some big ideas to capture the majority of the swing voters in the middle (i.e. most Independents and even some moderate Democrats)!
So it’s the ideas, stupid!
2. Big ideas
The image below highlights my three big ideas for the GOP 2016:
- The GOP must be against Democratic Socialism, by taking on the worst: public-sector unions!
- The GOP must be against Democratic Imperialism, by confronting America’s Culture of War. This is a must to attract a significant amount of swing voters in the middle!
- The GOP must support full-blown capitalism with an affordable version of democracy, largely as envisioned by our Founding Fathers!
For more, read my book: “The GOP Bible for 2016”.
3. Governor Walker or Senator Paul
Governor Walker has demonstrated his uncanny guts and wisdom in tackling Democratic Socialism! I highly praised him in 2012 (Public-Sector Unions: from Wisconsin to America), and he has become even better since then.
Senator Paul has the most thoughtful foreign policy, including this simple but important recognition: Rand Paul: Republican Hawks Are Arming ISIS. He offers the best hope to tackle Democratic Imperialism. I conditionally endorsed him in 2013 (My Email Exchanges with Senator Rand Paul), and I stand by that endorsement today!
Overall for 2016, Governor Walker has three major advantages over Senator Paul as follows:
- Governor Walker is more likely to win the Republican nomination than Senator Paul, because he is more aligned with Republican voters.
- Unlike Senator Paul, Governor Walker is a state Governor with an excellent track record, which I think is essential for the top job in the nation. For more, read: Solution for America (Version 3).
- Governor Walker is a self-made man, while Senator Paul is being helped by his father Ron Paul, not only in name recognition, but also in ideology. Now, why is a self-made man important? Read: America: A Nation of Self-Made Men (and Women) and America: Are We Still A Republic?
In contrast, Senator Paul has three major advantages over Governor Walker as follows:
- Senator Paul is more likely to win the general election than Governor Walker, because he is more aligned with the swing voters in the middle.
- Unlike Governor Walker, Senator Paul has served in both the U.S. House and the U.S. Senate, with exposure to national and international politics, which I think is important, but not essential as the governorship, for the top job in the nation.
- Senator Paul is a few years older than Governor Walker, which I think is important for the top job in the nation (American Presidency: Raising The Minimum Age to 55!).
So who will be the Republican nominee – Governor Walker or Senator Paul? To me, it largely depends on Susana Martinez, Governor of New Mexico!
4. Governor Susana Martinez
Bluntly, the GOP nominee must choose Governor Martinez as the running-mate, in order to have any chance in 2016, especially when faced with Hillary Clinton. Two main reasons:
- Governor Martinez is fully qualified to be the Vice President.
- Governor Martinez can attract many Hispanic votes and woman votes.
So the 2016 GOP race may simply come down to this: Governor Martinez, which one do you like better, Governor Walker or Senator Paul? For more, wait for my next post: “An Open Letter to Governor Susana Martinez”!
5. Closing
In 2013, I published a book “The GOP Bible for 2016”. Now, I have spelled out the best GOP ticket for 2016. Will the GOP listen? If not, it will be President Hillary Clinton in 2017, guaranteed!
