Another possibility replacing rice as a desiccant with a product that can be bought locally at your Walmart store called DampRid. As a drying agent it will absorb many, many times the amount of water rice will in a quarter of the time. The one important difference is that the phone parts MUST never come in contact with DampRid’s white crystalline product.
Tightly wrap phone parts (minus battery) in a single kitchen paper towel and place in a zip-lock bag with the desiccant at the other end. Leave the bag and contents undisturbed for 24 hours while the moisture is being removed from the phone. This is not guaranteed to fix the phone, but it will be dry and water free.
