On the third Monday in February, Presidents Day honors George Washington’s birthday — and some lucky folks get to take the day off work to celebrate. As the first federal holiday to honor an American citizen, the holiday was originally celebrated on Washington’s actual birthday, February 22, but has evolved considerably and now has come to be a sort of joint celebration of both George Washington’s and Abraham Lincoln’s big days (Lincoln’s birthday is Feb 12th).
