Foreign Assistance By U.S. To Pakistan

-- this post authored by Martin Armstrong

President Trump started the new year off aiming his Twitter sights at a new target: Pakistan.

For the president, the large sums spent recently by the U.S. on aid for the country do not match up to the alleged 'lies and deceit' received in return from Islamabad. This infographic shows the amount that has been spent on foreign assistance in Pakistan over the last few years.

In his second tweet of the year, Trump stated that due to the perceived nonreciprocal nature of the relationship between the two nations, there would be "No more!", signaling an end to the status quo and citing the lack of support in the fight against terrorists as the chief reason for the new approach. Looking at figures, the U.S. currently has a total of $345m in aid planned for 2018 - slightly less than the amount for 2017 and a marked reduction on the four years previous to that.
