Documentary Of The Week: Thinking That We Know

Written by

Econintersect: Daniel Kahnerman received the Nobel Prize in economics in 2002. But Prof. Kahneman is in fact a psychologist and Professor of Psychology and Public Affairs Emeritus at the Woodrow Wilson School, the Eugene Higgins Professor of Psychology Emeritus at Princeton University, and a fellow of the Center for Rationality at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem. His recognition in economics is for his contribution to behavioral economics.

This video is the 2012 presentation by Kahneman at the 12th Annual Sackler Lecture being presented in conjunction with the National Academy of Science's Sackler Colloquium: The Science of Science Communication. The subject ranges over how we think reflexively vs. contemplitavely; associative thinking; relationships between truth and validity; how context (or ignoring context) can distort thinking; and relationships between belief and knowledge.

If you are confident in your thinking, this lecture will give you pause to reconsider.
