PewDiePie Weathering The Storm

-- this post authored by Martin Armstrong

It's now a month since YouTube's most successful contributor, PewDiePie, was hit by Wall Street Journal led accusations of anti-Semitism.

The star is alleged to have posted nine videos containing Nazi imagery or anti-Semitic statements since August. The scandal led to PewDiePie (real name Felix Kjellberg) being dropped by major partner Disney and YouTube itself. While this is sure to hit him financially, his subscriber count hasn't been affected in the slightest.

On the contrary, Kjellberg, who in December became the first YouTuber to have over 50 million subscribers, gained almost half a million new subs in just the next 8 days sfter the story broke.

Figures we report were compiled using Social Blade.

This chart shows the number of new subscribers to the YouTube channel PewDiePie in the first 8 days after the anti-Semitism scandal hit the contributor.
