Who is Donald Trump, Anyway?

Written by

Donald Trump is the presumptive GOP nominee for President. As Trump is working hard toward the general election, let’s get to know him better …

Here is my take:

  1. Trump is a successful businessman, fiscally conservative!
  2. Trump is a populist, socially moderate!
  3. Trump is a true Reagan conservative!
  4. Trump knows how to win!

Let me elaborate on each ...

1. Trump is a successful businessman

Donald Trump is a maker, having achieved remarkable results through his long career in the private sector! In fact, $10 billion worth!

As a successful businessman, Trump, by profession, is fiscally conservative. Trump’s savviness in business may be exactly what America needs today, as our national debt already exceeds $19 trillion, and continues to rise rapidly!

Several of Trump’s businesses have indeed filed bankruptcy. When you have many business enterprises like Trump does, not all will succeed and some failure is an inevitable part of success in business!

Bottom line: a successful businessman like Trump has far more successes than failures!

Most importantly, Trump’s self-funding [mostly] for his campaign for the Presidency is not only noble, but also the best evidence of his sincerity and success! Why would anyone spend so much (of his own money) to become President? He is a winner and a patriotic American!

2. Trump is a populist

Trump is neither a Conservative per se, nor a Liberal, for sure! He is a populist with several hugely popular messages. Three examples:

  1. Stopping illegal immigration.
  2. Ending free trade, as we know it today.
  3. Staying out of war, unless it’s absolutely necessary.

If we have to define Trump by one of the major partisan categories in today‘s America, he is a Libertarian (like me)! Three examples:

  1. Trump is for a limited government, and is, very importantly, fiscally conservative.
  2. On foreign policy, Trump advocates America first, favoring non-interventionism. For more, read: America’s Post-WWII Foreign Policy.
  3. Trump is socially moderate.

3. Trump is a true Reagan conservative

One image is worth 1,000 words!

In contrast, most conservative politicians today are disingenuous, because they support the out-of-control MIC (Military-Industrial Complex), and are thus not fiscally conservative!

4. Trump knows how to win

As a de facto Libertarian, Trump, unlike Ron Paul, was smart enough not to run as a Libertarian or an independent, neither of whom has any chance of winning in our rigged 2-party system. Compared with Rand Paul, who also ran as a Republican, Trump is a much better campaigner, both in style and in substance. In fact, despite his grievous errors, Trump has proven to be one of the best campaigners, ever! For more, read: Presidential Candidates: Mitt Romney vs. Donald Trump.

So for those Libertarian voters and even some Sanders supporters, vote for Trump, because he is the winnable candidate best at addressing your critical issues such as fair trade and anti-war!

Like many, I did not initially take Trump’s candidacy seriously. Three old publications on the record:

  1. Mr. Trump: Drop Out, Just Drop Out!
  2. The 2016 GOP Ticket: Kasich-Martinez!
  3. Donald Trump and His Presidential Campaign.

However, Trump has finally convinced me he is real and has earned my endorsement. Three newer publications on the record:

  1. Okay, It’s Donald Trump!
  2. GOP Establishment vs. “We the people”.
  3. Indiana: Mike Pence vs. Bobby Knight.

In short, against all predictions, Trump has won the GOP battle! Can he win the war in November? Yes, he can! Specifically, let’s withhold our question and answer until after his Democratic opponent is identified.

5. Discussion

While waiting for his Democratic opponent to emerge, Trump must handle these three important tasks favorably:

  1. Uniting, reforming, and expanding the GOP!
  2. Shifting to the middle to win it! Specifically, Trump must make special efforts to win (back) women voters. He has foolishly alienated a significant portion of (at least) half of the electorate!
  3. Naming the VP who can help him win in November. My choice has always been Susana Martinez, Governor of New Mexico, regardless of the GOP nominee. For more, read: An Open Letter to Governor Susana Martinez.

Finally, let me clearly state who Trump is not:

  1. Trump is not a racist! If you argue he is, provide evidence!
  2. Trump is not anti-woman! For example, he was pro-choice before he was against it, thanks largely to the GOP platform! Bottom line: Trump is socially moderate!
  3. Trump is not unfair, nor unequal! No businessman of his statue can be successful without being fair and equal to all, including his customers, employees, and suppliers!
  4. Trump is not a career politician! He can be expected to serve our country and our people first before himself!
  5. Trump is not Bush II! Trump was right: without Bush II, there would have been no President Obama! In other words, Bush II enabled President Obama! More profoundly, Bush II nearly doomed the GOP (as well as America) and it will take an ingenious candidate like Trump to possibly save it.
  6. Trump is not against legal immigration! As proof, two thirds of his wives, former and current, are legal immigrants!

6. Closing

Trump has been a proven winner throughout his life. But will he be the winner in the ultimate test in November? Let's wait and see ...

By knowing who Donald Trump really is, many voters in the middle will hopefully give him a chance in November!

Now, please sit back and enjoy the interesting video below. For your information, I am non-religious and am adamantly opposed to mixing church and state.
