Super Bowl 50 - What Has Changed In The US Since 1967

by Felix Richter, Statista.com

-- this post authored by Dyfed Loesche

On Sunday, January 7, the Denver Broncos take on the Carolina Panthers in the Levi's stadium in Santa Clara, California, at Super Bowl 50.

The first contest of this kind, Super Bowl I, was played on January 15 1967, following the 1966 regular season.

The United States were a different place back then. Here are some figures to give a comparative glance at where America stood in the second half of the sixties compared to where they stand today.

There is over a hundred million people more living in the US, while the earth's population doubled in the same time period. While at first glance prices for commodities like gas and milk seem to have risen, they actually decreased when adjusted for inflation.

The chart also shows that America is aging and women have taken over the work force. The median income for men and women has risen since when the first Super Bowl took place.
