America: What if China is Singapore Times 10,000?

Written by

Previously, I compared China with Japan for America (America: What if China is Japan Times 10?), in order to help my fellow Americans better understand China, our biggest (and rising) competitor. In this post, I will replace Japan with Singapore for another comparison.

1. Introduction

There is no secret that America's mainstream media likes Singapore but dislikes China.

Two examples to show America's affinity for Singapore:

  1. 50 reasons Singapore is the world's greatest city (this week)
  2. What U.S. can learn from Singapore.

Two examples to show America's disdain for China:

  1. Beijing chosen to host 2022 Winter Olympics, angering human rights groups
  2. So much for China's century.

Why the apparent paradox? Three informative readings:

  1. Brainwashing in Communism and in Democracy
  2. Stupid Voters
  3. Stupid Media.

2. China vs. Singapore

Singapore is a tiny version of the future China, as highlighted below! Why? Because China has nearly all the best qualities of Singapore, plus ten thousand times more, with the same "essence": state capitalism!

Most notably, although both countries have a one-party political system, China's system (i.e. autocracy) is better than Singapore's (i.e. pseudo-monarchy)! For more, read:

  1. Lee Kuan Yew
  2. Li Dexin and Lee Kuan Yew
  3. Chinese Presidency: An Earned Kingship for 10 Years.

3. Singapore vs. China vs. America

The three countries are very different, as highlighted below:

I use a numerical scale (1 - worst; 10 - best) to quantitatively illustrate, very roughly and unscientifically, the differences among the three countries.

Let me briefly explain the eight three-way comparisons, one by one:

  1. History: China has a far longer history than both America and, of course, Singapore.
  2. Land: China is similar to America in size, while Singapore is tiny in comparison.
  3. Natural resources: China, in terms of abundance, is closer to America than to Singapore.
  4. Racial harmony: China is closer to Singapore than to America, which is already deeply in trouble, with the far worse yet to come.
  5. Religious harmony: China is closer to Singapore than to America, which is fundamentally getting worse (e.g. Christianity vs. Islam).
  6. Work ethic: In rising out of poverty, China is closer to Singapore than to America.
  7. Political system: China, an autocracy, although far from the ideal 10 (Towards an Ideal Form of Government), is far superior to Singapore (i.e. pseudo-monarchy) and of course, America, a failing democracy!
  8. Essence: China and Singapore are both poised to succeed well beyond America! Why? See the image below!

4. Closing

Singapore is a remarkable country! What the world, especially America, must understand is that Singapore may well be a tiny version of the future China!

America, you have been warned, again!
