Donald Trump and His Presidential Campaign

Written by

Once again, Donald Trump has maintained his prominent position in the news by opening his mouth and inserting his foot! Once again, the establishment denounced him, from the White House (White House Press Secretary Slams 'Disqualifying Trump' Comments), to the GOP leadership (Ryan, McConnell denounce Trump plan to bar Muslims from the U.S.), and to the mainstream media (Is Trump's Proposed Ban on Muslim Entry unconstitutional?). Once again, his GOP poll number is soaring (Poll: Nearly Two-Thirds of Likely GOP Voters Back Trump's Muslim Ban). What's really going on?

1. Trump is smart!

Over the past few months, Trump has repeatedly disproven conventional wisdom: despite many conventional problems, especially the so-called political incorrectness of speaking without considering the consequences, Trump has consistently remained the highest rated GOP contender, with occasional temporary, distant encroachments from the rest of the field!

Trump plays to win, and at this pace, there is nothing preventing him from winning the GOP nomination! But that is still well short of the ultimate goal: winning the American Presidency!

2. Trump is not smart enough to be the President!

Apparently, Trump still feels insecure about winning the GOP nomination. So he chose to double down with an outrageous position on Muslims to further please his core constituents, who are completely fed up with the status quo. With that, Trump may well have secured his GOP nomination, at the cost of losing the general election by further alienating many independent voters! For more, read: Mr. Trump: Drop Out, Just Drop Out!

Why is Trump so extreme on Muslims? He is pleasing the majority of his supporters by playing the "fear game". Or more politely, he is using the “uncertainty factor”!

3. The uncertainty factor

Here is my definition of the uncertainty factor: Since you can't be sure of some, eliminate all!

It’s a tool often used by politicians to please the majority against the minorities, with the following images providing one of the worst recent examples.

4. The uncertainty factor and democracy

Obviously, the effectiveness of using the uncertainty factor relies absolutely on the ignorance of the people. Democracy is therefore a perfect field for its application!

History is full of examples of [democratic] politicians using the uncertainty factor. For example, after the Pearl Harbor attack, FDR used the uncertainty factor against the Japanese Americans. His action (Internment of Japanese Americans) remains one of the darkest spots in American history!

The worst example is definitely Adolf Hitler, who, by using the uncertainty factor (e.g. against all Jews), came to power in Germany in 1933!

5. Is Trump a Hitler?

Of course not, despite all the aspersions and comparisons (5 Ways Donald Trump Perfectly Mirrors Hitler's Rise to Power)! Obviously, the same comparison could be used for Barack Obama, as well as many others. Disinformation and uncertainty are hallmarks of democratic elections!

6. Is Trump wrong on Muslims?

Yes! On two fronts at least:

  1. Church and state do not mix.
  2. The fear game.

Let me elaborate on each.

6.1 Church and state do not mix!

One founding principle of America is religious freedom, including specifically not having a national religion like some other countries (e.g. England)! Thomas Jefferson was particularly big on the Separation of church and state in the United States!

6.2 The fear game

It’s un-American!

7. Why is Trump so offensive to Muslims?

It’s democracy, stupid!

Which religion has the majority in America today? Christianity! So Trump is simply working hard on the majority, although there is no sign that Trump himself is religious in any way, shape, or form!

8. Who is Donald Trump?

I do not know, exactly! But I know these two things for sure:

  1. Trump cares about his hair!
  2. Trump is not against legal immigration!

Let me elaborate on each.

8.1 Trump cares about his hair!

8.2 Trump is not against legal immigration!

9. Discussion

I like democracy but do not believe it is a good form of government! Instead, I believe "state capitalism" is the best form of government available today. For more, read: Towards an Ideal Form of Government.

Below is a concrete example to show that American democracy does not work (anymore)!

I also believe that this Presidential campaign is yet another clear demonstration that American democracy has run its course: we are simply no longer capable of electing a great President America desperately needs today! For more, read: America vs. the World.

This Presidential campaign also shows how shrewd former President Bill Clinton is (Donald Trump talked politics with Bill Clinton weeks before launching 2016 bid)! By merely having Donald Trump running on the GOP side to piss off most of the independent voters in the middle, he has virtually ensured that his wife will be the next American President!

10. Closing

I will vote for the GOP nominee, even if it's Trump! However, as I have forewarned (2016 GOP Presidential Candidates; Style over Substance!), unless the GOP can get its act together to nominate a candidate who appeals to the independent voters in the middle, we will end up with President Hillary Clinton in 2017, guaranteed!
