A joint report from the World Health Organisation and UNICEF has revealed the countries with the fewest toilets per person across the globe.
2.4 billion people, or a third of the world’s population, do not have access to proper sanitation facilities. Nearly all of the worst countries can be found in Africa with the situation in newly independent South Sudan especially bad. Out of its population of 8.3 million people, only 6.7 percent have access to a toilet.
This chart shows the percentage of the population with access to sanitation worldwide.
