UK-based aviation data monitors OAG named airBaltic as the world’s most punctual airline for 2014.
Out of 42,000 flights operated by Latvia’s national carrier, an impressive 95 percent arrived at their destinations within 15 minutes of their planned arrival time. Hawaiian Airlines and Austrian airlines came second and third with punctuality performances of 93.3 and 90 percent respectively.
American carriers are conspicuous by their absence from the list. Out of the world’s top 20 most punctual airlines, 13 are European and just two are American. Along with Hawaiian, Alaska Airlines was the only other US airline to break into the top 20, coming in twelfth with an on-time performance of 88.5 percent.
