According to a Gallup poll, Kentucky and West Virginia have the highest smoking rates in the United States at 30.2 and 29.9 percent of their populations respectively.


Follow up:

Unsurprisingly, states with smoking bans tend to have significantly lower rates of smoking than states that don’t - Kentucky, West Virginia and Mississippi, the three worst offenders, fit into the latter category.
