Sunday Economic Comedy: Time Warp Back to 1982

The budget in 1982 was $600 billion, and the national debt was around a trillion.   This was fodder for comedy.  Would anyone have believed that USA citizens would be facing $3.7 trillion government spending and $16 trillion debt 30 years later?
