Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea

Econintersect:  Ever since the days of Jules Verne (Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea) and ocean-deep-diveSMALLlater the movie and televison series (Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea) there has been a fascination with what mysteries lie beneath the vast oceans of the planet.  This great expanse of saline water covers approximately 71% of the surface area and provides the dominant deep blue color of earth as viewed from space.  More recently the explorations of Jacques Cousteau and James Cameron have moved the public consciousness more toward the scientific and away from the earlier science fiction.  Following is an interesting info graphic on interesting facts about ocean exploration.
