Far East Stocks Mostly Higher Friday

Econintersect:  Far east stocks were mostly up at the close Friday (March 18).  As GEI all markets were positive in early trading, but several markets fell back significantly during the day.  Mumbai (Bombay) ended down 1.5% for the day, while Singapore lost 0.2%.

Follow up:

Tokyo gained 2.7% recovering some more of the massive losses incurred following the March 11 earthquake and tsunami.  Sydney (+1.7%) and Seoul (+1.1%) also advanced more than 1%.
