India: National Broadband Plan

Bangalore (EE Times):  A proposed National Broadband Plan that would cost about $13.5 billion, is ultimately expected to provide 75 million broadband connections, including 60 million wireless links.

Follow up:

 The optical fiber net would provide download speeds as high as 10 megabits/sec in cities.  The network would be completed by 2013.  Read more.....
